THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POPULATION OF DREISSENA POLYMORPHA (PALLAS, 1771) IN THE MOUTH OF THE NORTHERN DVINA RIVER

Abstract

Some population characteristics of the settlement of Dreissenapolymorpha (Pallas, 1771) in the mouth of the Northern Dvina River are described. The samples of mollusks were collected during the summer period of

2016    in the upper part of the delta, where the influence of the agglomeration is noticeable, and in the lower part of the estuary area. A complex of morphometric measurements was carried out. The intrapopulation diversity in three populations of mollusks was studied. The size and weight structure of the investigated settlements differed insignificantly both in stations and in biotopes (for periphyton and benthos), which indicates a relative homogeneity of the habitat conditions. The importance of further study of the biology and ecology of this mollusk in the basin of the Northern Dvina River is shown.
