Abstract

The article is devoted to the problem of forming the population composition and its distribution in one of the most urbanized regions of Russia, the Kemerovo Region (Oblast).The process of settlement and economic development of the territory of  Kuzbass is considered. The periods of settlement associated with the waves of human migrations are identified. The determining factor in the formation of professional, age-sex and national population structure of the region and its distribution has become the character of economic development and settlement of the territory of Kuzbass.
