Abstract

In the article some results of morphometric investigations of monitoring sites located on the Southern and Northern borders in the Russian tundra zone are presented. The basic natural processes, the activation of which leads to violations of the normal functioning of the modified natural and engineering systems are considered. The work presents the dynamics of climat ic characteristics for the Bolshezemelskaya tundra and the White island (annual temperature, precipitation, snow depth). The effect of the development of thermokarst processes and their activation on the formation of thermokarst lakes are shown.

Keywords

tundra, monitoring, dynamics of temperature and precipitation, snow cover, permafrost, thermokarst lakes.
