Abstract

The article deals with the short-term oxygen saturation variability of waters in the estuaries of the White Sea rivers. These rivers have micro-, meso- and mac- rotidal conditions. To estimate the variability under review, the authors used data collected by studying in the estuaries of the Kem River, the Mezen River, the Kyanda River and the Unskaya Guba Bay. The analysis of autocorrelation function pointed to the dominance of daily cyclicity. It is shown that the intensive anthropogenic influence can reduce this cycle. The authors recommended sampling water 2 times daily in increments of 12 hours during seasonal monitoring the quality of the White Sea estuarine waters.

Keywords

oxygen saturation, short-term variability, autocorrelation function, tide, the White Sea, estuary.
