Abstract

The reconnaissance data analysis on rare and Red Data Book species of Kalmykia's Sarpa water body which regularly or occasionally lived there in 2008—2015 was carried out. Ecological characteristics of rare and preserved species of the water body were given. Up-to-date assessment of rare and Red Data Book species of the preserved territories of the water body was presented. For the first time the share of the water body in biological diversity of the region has been given, i.e. the analysis of the number of times the birds were met, the dynamics of the population. The recommendations on the water body management to preserve rare and vulnerable bird species were presented.
