Abstract

The illegitimacy of imparting universality to the revealed regularities on the hydrological role of the stand on the grounds with differentiated zonal and geographical conditions is justified. There is a large-scale reduction of forests in significant areas of the North Caucasus, which increased the vulnerability and weakened the adaptability of mountain-valley ecosystems. It is shown that the geographical consequences of the “transformation” of phytocoenoses were manifested in the removal of the landscape-stabilizing principle of forests.

The change in the mean annual runoff is established by excluding the part of the moisture from the zone of biological and physical evaporation. The intensity of interfacial flows of the matter and energy has decreased, weakening the stability of hierarchically organized paragenetic natural complexes.

The justification of the fact that purposeful management of the moisture flow of mountain-valley ecosystems can, to a large extent, be realized through the vegetative component of landscapes is given. It was concluded that it is expedient to resume applied research to identify the territorial specificity of the correlation between the processes of “transformation” of phytocenoses and changes in the nature of the hydrologic cycle in various geographical zones.
