Abstract

The provision of water resources in the regions of the steppe zone of the European Part and the issues of their use at present are considered. The characteristics of river basins according to morphometric and hydrological parameters in the steppe regions are given. When assessing the water resources of the regions, attention was paid to the regulation of surface runoff and the stock of ponds and reservoirs. The analysis of water availability in the regions with the calculation of specific provision with water resources per one resident is carried out. The structure of water consumption is presented, which made it possible to allocate regions in accordance with water specialization: industrial and agricultural water supply. For the analysis of the efficiency of water resources use in the economy, the index of the reservoir capacity of the gross regional product is calculated. The results of the research have revealed disproportions not only in the provision of water resources, but their use in the regions of the steppe zone of the European Part of Russia.
