Abstract |
During the field seasons of 2007—2017 landscape- ecological studies of the state of natural complexes of Ulyanovsk Oblast as a part of the Middle Volga Region have been carried out. The natural landscape complexes and ecosystems of the studied territory were examined on the basis of the analysis of space images, their visual interpretation and classification by types of natural objects and peculiarities of spatial distribution of natural communities and ecosystems within the landscapes, which resulted in the identification of 2 natural areas (the Predvolzhsky and Zavolzhsky areas); 3 types of natural complexes, 7 types of landscapes; 19 types of ecosystems. The identified ecosystems are inscribed in the natural landscapes, which are grouped into the following landscape areas: the Prisursky forest area; the Sviyazhsky forest-steppe region; the Melekess-Stavropol forest-steppe region; the Kondurchinsky steppe region; the Syzran-Tereshkinsky forest-steppe region; the South Syzran steppe region; the Verkhnekadadinsky steppe region. At present, five types of ecosystems occupy the largest area in the region: agrocenoses, broadleaf upland forests, perennial deposits and secondary meadows on dry lands, pine-deciduous forests and small-leaved secondary forests, which together occupy 72 % of the area of the Ulyanovsk Region; the impact of anthropogenic factors on natural landscapes and ecosystems in the Ulyanovsk Region is rather high: the pollution of the rivers and the Kuibyshev Reservoir, plowing of lands, the deforestation, the drainage of marshes, the construction, littering (unauthorized landfills), the use of chemicals in agriculture and forestry), which requires significant efforts of environmental and public organizations to stabilize the environmental situation in the region. Material processing and analysis (308 points, 858 images of the study area) were carried out in Google Earth 6.1 and SAS Planet programs. |
