Abstract

The assessment of the regenerative ability of planaria Dugesia tigrina under ionizing radiation has been conducted in the study. At the first stage of the work the radiosensitivity of planaria was investigated according to the modifications of the blastema area under the impact of different radioactive doses (0,01 Gy; 0,1 Gy; 1 Gy; 10 Gy) during the model experiment. At the following stage of the work the authors evaluated the planarium (Dugesia ti- grina) survival rate in water samples taken from tested boreholes of a storage facility for radioactive waste in Obninsk (Shurf-1, Shurf-2, Shurf-3, Shurf-4, Shurf-5, I-1); the duration of the experiment was 72 hours. Further, the changes of the planarium blastema area, which were found in the experimental water samples from tested boreholes of the storage facility for radioactive waste, were assessed for a period of three days. The model experiments showed that the planaria is a radio sensitive test-organism, which can be used during biodiagnostics of radioactive contamination. The results of the experiment with changing of the planarium blastema area from control water samples taken from tested boreholes of a storage facility for radioactive waste (during three days) showed that the regenerative ability of planaria decreases with the increase of the activity of 90Sr.
