Abstract

The effects of urban heat island (UHI) is a kind of phenomenon of heat accumulations in some urban areas due to the nature of the city's development and the types of industry, energy and transportation. It is recognized as one of the characteristics of the urban climate. The increase of temperature due to the UHI effects influences the energy flows in urban ecological systems, and creates a peculiar urban climate. In this paper, the factors that lead to the UHI effects in megacities and their influence on the ecology of the city are considered. Recommendations are given to mitigate the harmful UHI effects on the city.
