Abstract

The article considers the issue of estimating the intensity of recent tectonic movements on the coasts of large reservoirs. The conditions for the existence of tectonic movements are considered, the factors complicating the assessment of their intensity are identified. The method of analyzing the intensity of exogenous processes is described. Water erosion was chosen as a model of the process, since the connection of modern tectonics and erosion processes is recognized and well understood. To estimate modern rates of denudation in the basins of the beams, which is an important indicator of tectonic activity, we used data on the filling the bays of the reservoir with sediment. The bays, being the receiving waters for the erosion systems of the coasts of the reservoir, allow us to make a fairly accurate assessment of the volume of sediment load of these systems during the period of the existence of the reservoir. Based on the evaluation of sediment discharge of the basins of the south of the Volga Upland, the assumption of modern movements along the lines of the discharge of the known dislocations of the Volga Region is made.
