Abstract

In the case study of the Bolshezemelskaya Tundra we consider the principles and offer the methods of carrying out ecological diagnostics of cryolithozone which are based not only on the change of frost characteristics, but also on regional quantitative criteria to evaluate the stability of ecological situation. It is shown that the methods of ecological diagnostics have to be defined by the large-scale level of research and can include the results of ecological-economic balance calculation, the analysis of natural and ecological framework condition, modern environmental management, etc. The assessment of modern ecological situation in the region has revealed its relative balance at the zone and administrative levels and the obvious disbalance at the local level.

Keywords

cryolithozone, large-scale levels of ecological diagnostics, quantitative criteria of ecological diagnostics, limits of the territory intensive use.
