Abstract

The prerequisites of radioecology and environ-mental radiological monitoring evolution are considered in the article. They have their origin in the radioactivity discovery in 1896. Regional centers for nuclear studies played an important role in radioecology and environmental radiological monitoring evolution. The scientific and historical analysis emphasizes the importance of ecological and biological components in environmental radiological monitoring and allows us to make recommendations for monitoring systems improvement.

Keywords

radioecology, environmental radiological monitoring, environmental radioactivity, regional centers for nuclear studies.
