Abstract

In the field, 90Sr migration in the trophic chain “soil-plant” was studied on the leached low-humus super thick chernozems. It was found that more 90Sr was contained in the cultivar “Slava pobeditelyam” (“Glory to the winners”) bark and timber rather than in those of the variety “Red Melba”, 6.7 and 1.6 times respectively. In the pericarp, seed vessels and seeds of “Slava pobeditelyam” (“Glory to the winners”) the content of 90Sr is 1.7; 1.6 and 1.5 times more, respectively than in the cultivar “Red Melba”.Ihe transition ratio of 90Sr (Bq/kg)/(kBq/m2) for a variety of fruits “Red Melba” is from 7.4 to 8.2 x 10-4, for the variety “Slava pobeditelyam” (“Glory to the winners”) is from 12.8 to 13.8 x 10-4. Over time, there is a decrease in the content of radionuclides in apple organs. With the high level of surface contamination of soil, 90Sr negative effect on the growth and development of the studied apple varieties was observed. Different radionuclide accumulation is ex-plained by the characteristics of the varieties “Glory winners” and “Red Melba”, which are given in the article.
