Abstract

The article presents a deep and multilateral analysis of air and water pollution problems in the Rostov Region as they are closely connected with the survival of the humanity. Different pollution types are indicated and described, i.e. atmospheric composition, transport vehicles, building industry, dust, chemical industry and manufacturing. The pollution levels in the air and rivers in different cities and towns of the Rostov Region are shown with graphs. The cleanest and dirtiest inhabited localities are indicated. The most harmful dangerous and toxic influences on a human being are enu-merated. It is underlined that sewage of drinking, household and agricultural waters turn out to become the most frequent sources of pollution. It is significant that in the paper the authors introduce the assessment system of the polluting substances contents in the surrounding environment of both air or water objects. Taking into consideration the authors' conclusions, we may work out a plan of bettering the ecological situation in the Rostov Region. It should be stressed, that no changes are possible without a substantial aid of the governmental and public organizations.
