Abstract

The article presents the results of a study on the spatial analysis of vegetation degradation in the Voronezh Region. The theoretical bases of the development of natural hazards associated with the loss of vegetation soils and leading to a gradual decrease in bioproductivity and loss of their ecological functions are analyzed. The approaches to the development of regional systems for monitoring and forecasting devegetation processes based on the use of GIS-tools and thematic databases are considered. The basic principles of creating thematic relational databases containing information on natural hazards are shown. The results of a spatial analysis of remote information on the distribution of fires and the distribution of the normalized vegetation index in the territory of the Voronezh Region are presented using the tools of geographic information systems. It is determined that in modern realities, the geographic information analysis of the information on the distribution and degree of severity of natural hazards acquires the leading importance in the organization and justification of economic activity and becomes an integral part of effective environmental management.
