Abstract

The spread of the sustainable development and green economy approaches has changed the basic understanding of the environmental management of the territories and environmental conservation due to the implementation of the ecosystem approach that includes the integration of environmental, economic and social considerations into the management of biological and physical systems in order to maintain environmental sustainability, biodiversity and environmental productivity. It leads to serious changes in the information and analytic support. The main features and peculiarities of the economic assessment of ecosystem services and their mapping are exemplified by the research conducted in the Yaroslavl Region. The article also provides the recommendations on the ecosystem approach in environmental management of the territories and environmental conservation.

Keywords

ecosystems, ecosystem services, sustainable development, ecosystem approach, environmental management of the territories and environmental conservation, economic assessment of ecosystem services, mapping of ecosystem services.
