Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the views on geography teaching at higher school.

The new realities of life, the development of the civilization, the globalization of all processes, including education, have required geography restructuring on a fundamentally new basis. The tasks ofhumanization, individualization and democratization of education, the recognition of the personality of each student, taking into account individual differences, as well as stimulating the development of the abilities of every person, are set.

A brief description of the role of geography in the training of bachelors is given. The content of geography is no longer a goal ofeducation and is increasingly becoming a means of education of any individual. It is designed to provide students with a living space where they can gain the necessary knowledge according to their needs and abilities. Under these conditions, the development of the problem of saturation of the content of geography with ethno-geographic information is especially important.

The inclusion of ethno-geographic knowledge in the course “Geography of Russia” is considered.
