Abstract

The article gives the historical analysis of the placement of heat supply facilities in the territory of Great Britain, the stages of active construction and their transfer and closing are highlighted, and the inventory of the modern sources of pollutants in the atmosphere and water bodies is made. It is shown that the choice of the stations’ location depended on different factors: proximity to customers (the cities and industrial centers), original focus on carbon fields, after the opening of hydro-carbonic fields in the water area of the North Sea the orientation on a network of pipelines and oil ports. For the recent 30 years in the structure of the placement of power stations there have been most considerable changes caused by the acceptance of a range of ecological programs. They dealt both with the choice of the location of the facilities of energy industry, and with the reduction of air emissions and fuel consumption.
